For years, I’ve trained and coached women, guiding them toward their best lives. But launching this podcast wasn’t just another goal—it was a calling. And now, I get to bring you real, actionable wisdom that will help you step into your own excellence, one bold decision at a time.
The Journey to Excellence: How It All Started
Exactly one year ago, during my annual dream planning session, I knew deep in my soul that 2024 was the year I would finally launch a podcast. I had heard it over and over again from friends and colleagues: You should do a podcast! But the timing never felt quite right—until now.
Fast forward to today, and All Things Excellence is officially live. But let me tell you, getting here wasn’t easy. It took overcoming fear, letting go of perfectionism, and trusting the process. And that’s exactly what I want for you, too.
The Vision: Why All Things Excellence Exists
As women, we wear so many hats. We strive for excellence in our careers, our homes, our health, our relationships. We have more access to information than ever before, yet we often find ourselves overwhelmed, stuck in analysis paralysis. We want to be our best, but where do we even begin?
That’s why this space exists—to give you practical tools to grow and permission to embrace the messy middle. Because messy progress will always be better than perfect procrastination.
The Lessons of Excellence
Through my own journey—from growing up on a farm in Iowa to navigating bullying, college, career shifts, entrepreneurship, and personal growth—I’ve learned powerful lessons about what it truly takes to live a life of excellence. Today, I want to share three of those lessons with you.
1. You Become Like Those You Hang Around
If there’s one lesson my mom ingrained in me growing up, it’s this: We become like those we hang around.
Your environment matters. The people you spend time with, the voices you listen to, and the mentors you choose will either elevate you or pull you down. My first true experiences with excellence came from the people placed in my life—my grandmother, my piano teachers, my college professor—each of whom refused to let me settle for mediocrity.
Ask yourself: Are the people around me pushing me toward my best self? If not, it may be time to make some shifts.
2. Mindset Matters: God Loves Me, and Everything Goes My Way
This has been my mantra for over a decade: God loves me, and everything goes my way—even if I can’t quite see it yet.
This isn’t about blind optimism; it’s about choosing to believe that life is happening for you, not to you. Even the challenges, the setbacks, and the painful moments are shaping you into the person you’re meant to be. When we adopt this mindset, we stop seeing obstacles as dead ends and start seeing them as redirections.
3. Understanding Increases Awareness, Awareness Increases Compassion, and Compassion Increases Communication
One of the most powerful lessons I’ve learned is that the more we seek to understand—ourselves and others—the more clarity and peace we gain.
When I was 10 years old, my parents put me in therapy, and that experience shaped my entire perspective on life. It taught me to seek understanding rather than judgment, to ask why instead of assuming. And as I grew older, I realized that understanding leads to greater awareness, which fosters compassion, which in turn transforms our communication.
If you want stronger relationships, deeper self-awareness, and a more fulfilling life, start by seeking understanding.
Step Into Your Own Excellence
Now, I want you to reflect on these three lessons. How can you apply them in your own life?
-
Evaluate your circle. Are you surrounded by balcony people who lift you up or basement people who drag you down?
-
Check your mindset. Are you choosing to believe that life is working in your favor?
-
Seek understanding. Where can you increase your awareness and compassion to improve your communication and relationships?
Excellence isn’t about perfection—it’s about intentional growth. And if you’re ready to dive deeper into this journey, be sure to listen to Episode 2, where we’ll explore how to create an aligned and unstoppable life.
